I am a teacher with 25 years of experience teaching at the secondary level. I began teaching after I attended Sacred Heart University and earned a bachelor's degree in Mathematics. While teaching, I decided to concurrently pursue further education, and I attended Gonzaga University where I then earned a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. My schooling plus my real teaching experiences make me a great tutor. I also learned a lot about teaching from my students, since their feedback and grades allowed me to know whether my teaching methods were working well or not. I enjoy tutoring in many subjects, but I especially enjoy helping students in Algebra. I feel it is an important course to master, because it is the foundation of all future Mathematics courses. I like to include pictures and drawings in the lessons I teach, because many students are visual learners, just like I am. I also enjoy helping students find more than one way to solve Math problems, so when faced with a more difficult problem, they have several techniques they can use to find the solution. In my free time, I love to stay active by biking and running. I participate in marathons, and I feel that they helped me learn how to persevere and never give up when facing challenges. I always have a goal of completing a marathon in under 5 hours, and I have reached my goal in the six marathons I have participated in.
