Experience

I taught English as a second language for over 6 years in Tokyo, Okinawa, and Hawaii. I have worked for companies as well as for private students. I have been responsible for teaching both adults and children using my own materials or those provided. My lessons are based on each student's needs. I will create lessons and lesson plans for individual students and work with each to fulfill their goals language learning goals. For example, I have had some students that wanted to practice conversation so we would read news and science articles so that we could speak freely on each topic and state opinions. I have also had a young student, about nine years old at the time, who had never taken English before and created my own basic learning program for her. She was able to move from learning the alphabet to reading and understand simple children's books in a few months. By this time she was able to have basic conversations. I enjoy teaching English because of the sense of pride I get as I watch my students succeed.
