Upcoming senior at the University of Hawaii at Manoa's Shidler College of Business majoring in Marketing and International Business, with a minor in Japanese. This past year, I have also had the opportunity to study abroad at Seoul National University in Seoul, South Korea where I also started learning Korean.
Experience
Born and raised in Hawaii by Japanese parents, I grew up in a bilingual speaking environment. I self-taught reading and writing Japanese until high school, when I started to take formal classes, and tested in to the Advanced Level Japanese Language Placement Test in my Sophomore year in University. I am most comfortable in teaching Japanese to English speaking students or English to Japanese speaking students. I also have some experience tutoring lower-level high school math and English as a volunteer from when I was in high school myself.

Hobbies
My hobbies include music and film consumption. In high school I played the clarinet as part of the marching band and continued to play until my freshman year in university. Unfortunately, I don't play that often anymore, but I still sometimes pick up my guitar which I also learned around the same time. I also like to watch foreign films and dramas. I believe that watching Japanese films as a child helped me develop a natural Japanese speaking pattern, and the Korean dramas I got into when I was in high school helped me pick up listening to Korean easier when I got to Korea. I love to be spontaneous too, so don't be afraid to contact me on short notice!
