I have been a professor of rhetoric, media studies and communication for over 30 years. Oahu has been my home this past decade. I have published papers in literature and film analysis as well as peer-reviewed theoretical work with importance for social theory, sociology and anthropology. The great joy of my teaching career has been working with students individually as a mentor. Although lecturing is great for sharing information with a group, discussion in a one-on-one situation personalizes the experience and helps to focus and build confidence. Conversation is living thought. Connecting concepts to the concrete experiences that come up in a live conversation stimulates students toward new and fruitful paths into the course material. I love movies, rock musicals, dancing, SUP and hiking! I am working on a novel about a rock opera I wrote in the 1990's. Screenwriting is a passion for me that grew out of my love of novels and short stories.
