Education
In the spring of 2015, I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. I graduated with a 3.85 GPA and now have a state-issued initial teaching license for grades 8-12. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Austin College (Texas) in 2013, graduating magna cum laude, with honors, and as a member of the academic Greek association Phi Beta Kappa. I minored in French and Educational Psychology.
Experience
Following high school years in which I tutored some of my fellow students in English, I spent my undergrad in a pre-teaching program that eventually included a seven-week period of teaching in an 8th grade middle school classroom. While completing my bachelor's degree, I also volunteered my time with International Rescue Committee to help refugees learn English as a second language. After enrolling in a Master of Arts in Teaching program, I spent a year teaching 9th grade English in an urban high school. While I honed my craft in the classroom through teaching everything from essay-writing to slam poetry to "Romeo and Juliet," I also dedicated many hours to tutoring students one-on-one during free periods and after school. I love helping struggling students produce work that they can be proud of, giving hardworking students the tools that they need to push their achievements higher, and offering the personalized, one-on-one support, guidance, and encouragement that all students can thrive under. I believe that with individualized feedback and goal-setting, students will find that they can achieve more than they thought they could, and will become more self-sufficient thinkers and workers in the process.

Hobbies
When I'm not working, you can find me reading, writing, or cooking. I also like watching TV shows such as "Elementary," "Master Chef," and "Daredevil." Additionally, for the past ten years I have enjoyed volunteering my skills as an editor to help online writers develop the best possible versions of their work.
