I'm currently a freshman at Hawaii Pacific University, majoring in International Studies. I'm aiming for my Bachelor's degree. At the moment I'm taking general education classes, though they range from studies in world religion to communication and resume building, even to introductory oceanography and psychology. I'm taking fifteen credit hours worth of classes this semester, and I intend to take at least that much or sixteen next semester. I plan on studying abroad my sophomore or junior year. I lived in Japan for a year during my junior year in high school as an exchange student, and a passion for the language and the culture has stayed with me ever since. Being immersed in a totally new subject really sparked my passion for learning.
Experience
My ACT writing and reading scores were exceptional, I remember I got at least a 30 for both when I hadn't studied the test before hand, and I hadn't written for over a year. I retain a very good memory from the many classes I've had over the years. I've also studied abroad in Japan. I lived there for a year, learning the language and the culture. I was tutored in Japanese, but also gave tutoring in English while I was there. I want to teach and be a tutor again because I really loved one-on-one time in a learning environment. I have always loved to learn and grow, and I want to help instill that passion, or help someone to see that they really are capable of something better.
