Experience
I earned my bachelor's with a double major in Biology and English at the University of Hawaii Manoa then went on to earn my master's at Chaminade University in the field of Education. I have worked formally as a teacher and tutor for over ten years, helping students from elementary school age up through high school. The subject I enjoy working with the most is Grammar. I believe that correct Grammar is essential to everyone as they move forward writing essays and communicating in their school and the professional world. I can also teach Writing, Reading, Algebra, Geometry, and Biology. I also have experience and a level of comfort assisting students as they prepare for standardized exams like the SAT, ISEE, and SSAT. My main goal as a teacher and tutor is to provide students with the tools they need to become independent learners and to do that with enthusiasm. Seeing students that I work with achieve their academic goals is extremely rewarding. When I am not in the classroom or working as a tutor, I like to spend my time hiking, surfing, playing basketball, and hanging out with my children.
